The Blue House of the Support Group for Children with Cancer e.V. Stuttgart offers families of children with cancer a temporary home during inpatient or outpatient treatment. But it lacked accessibility and a modern appearance. This is where the joint commitment of the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation together with LEONHARD WEISS GmbH & Co. KG comes into play. 

Thanks to this community support, children with physical disabilities and families with strollers can now easily access the premises. But it's not just about accessibility - the appearance of the Blue House now shines in new splendor. 

A mother reports enthusiastically: “My daughter, who can only get around in a wheelchair, now prefers to visit the advice center because access to the rooms is much easier.” And a father is happy about the innovations: “The new access to the The advice center makes our visit a lot easier for us because we no longer have to climb stairs with the stroller. The new access also makes you feel much more welcome.” 

These words clearly show what a positive impact the commitment has and that we were not only able to physically improve the Blue House, but also touch the hearts of those who are looking for support in these difficult times.

The little patients in the ANNA Eichendorf House, a facility run by the Munich Ambulatory Children's Hospice Foundation (AKM), can look forward to new instruments in the music therapy room.  

It has been proven that music has a healing power that has a positive impact on children's well-being. That's why the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation financed the purchase of various musical instruments such as a guitar set, piano, therapy singing bowls and a sound cradle. The opportunity to play different instruments and create sounds offers young patients a space of relaxation and self-expression in which they can process and express their emotions. 

The ANNA Eichendorf house is the first of a total of four planned part-time children's hospices and is intended to close the existing gap between outpatient and full-time inpatient care in Bavaria. Affected families are relieved of their everyday lives through regular or acute day, night or weekend care.

We helped to redesign the paediatric emergency department at the Robert Debré Hospital. The highlight of this remodelling? A brand new play area that brings joy and comfort to the little patients.

Playtime, comfort and smiles: our job is to dry little tears, and this new play area does just that. It's a space where children can be children to relieve their stress and anxiety about examinations.

Our partnership is growing: the Children's Aid Foundation and the Robert Debré Hospital are committed to the well-being and care of children's patients. We are pleased to announce that we will be doing even more - stay tuned for more projects that improve the lives of children.

We are pleased to have once again provided the children and young people of the Pfennigparade Foundation with an unforgettable winter experience.  

The Pfennigparade Foundation accompanies people with physical disabilities and other impairments in all phases of life and in all areas of life. Its goal is to promote inclusion and social participation and to give people the greatest possible quality of life. 

As early as 2022 Two skibob training days were realized thanks to a donation from the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation. In winter 2023, the Pfennigparade Foundation was able to offer several skibob family days and a skibob training camp in Söll in the Kaiser Mountains. These events are considered pure barrier-free winter fun. The participants learned to ski with adapted ski equipment, the so-called skibobs, which are equipped with new parallelogram foot systems. Skibob training allowed the whole family to be on the slopes together and enjoy skiing. This is often not a given for families with a child with a disability and is often even impossible. The joy on our part is all the greater to make these experiences possible.

The Saint Jacques Pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Center of the Order of Malta France allows the rehabilitation treatment of children and adolescents with motor, orthopaedic, neurological functional deficits or burns, sometimes associated with sensory, psycho-intellectual or cognitive functional deficits.  

On the site of the center, the existing playground was supplemented with a sensory and inclusive offer. Up to 30 children a week enjoy the new play equipment donated by the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS, such as the hammock and the sound flowers as well as the picnic tables. After sometimes staying in the center for months and long treatment times, the children and their families are happy about the expanded playground and enjoy the time together.

For the Atemzeit intensive care home, the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS donated four more care beds in addition to the six existing care beds. Mobile ventilation vehicles were also donated so that more children and families have the opportunity to be cared for in the facility. The care beds are child-friendly in design and uncomplicated in handling for the care of the children thanks to four easy-to-operate lowering rails. As a result, they are accessible from all sides for medical care, therapy and care and can be height-adjusted by motor with electric frame inserts. The ventilation trolleys offer an optimal platform for the necessary medical technology and can be used on the move. Children and young people aged 0 to 18 who are seriously ill or have multiple disabilities can be cared for and treated in new rooms and everyday care is made easier.

The children's palliative team in southern Hesse takes care of terminally ill children and young people both medically and those affected and their relatives mentally and organizationally in a situation that is very challenging for everyone. This care takes place on an outpatient basis in a familiar environment at home in order to maintain the best possible degree of normality for those affected and their families. Transport to specialists or medical facilities to carry out examinations or treatment, often combined with an inpatient stay in an unfamiliar environment, can lead to stress, anxiety and often enough physical suffering and pain. Many treatments can also be carried out on an outpatient basis in the home environment, but require a reliable examination and diagnosis in advance, which often involves a change of location. Thanks to the donated mobile ultrasound device, those affected no longer have to travel, and treatment to alleviate the burden of symptoms can be carried out immediately and on site. Those affected, their relatives, as well as the doctors in the children's palliative care team benefit from this, as they can not only help the patients better and faster, but can also use their time capacities more efficiently.

"The mobile ultrasound device is extremely user-friendly, it fits in every pocket, provides meaningful images on the display of my smartphone and guarantees me fast and reliable diagnoses and assessments that allow me to take immediate measures to alleviate symptoms," says Palliative care physician and medical director of the palliative team Dr. Daniel Stanze.

The Malteser maternity clinic "Zur Heiligen Familie" in Bethlehem is the largest facility in the West Bank where high-risk pregnant women can receive medical care according to Western standards. With its donation, the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS has made it possible to replace the outdated medical equipment with modern equipment.

With its neonatal intensive care unit and nearly 5,000 deliveries a year, Malteser Hospital is the largest gynecological and obstetrical clinic in the region. It has 63 beds, a neonatal intensive care unit with 18 cribs, a maternal intensive care unit with 2 beds and a day hospital with 6 beds.

The premature care unit now has two new premature ultrasound machines, as well as four incubators and other important equipment to support the healthy development of premature babies. Many premature babies require intensive care and with the new equipment, many can be treated quickly and easily.

In February 2022, the new day hospital for the children's cancer ward in Ouedraogo was inaugurated. The new building allows the doctors of the Department of Pediatric Oncology at the Yalgado Ouedraogo University Hospital Center to work independently. The construction of the new building was financed in part by the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS. Far more children than before can be treated in the new day clinic. In addition, the children can now be treated on an outpatient basis. The need is great, as around 800 cases are registered each year.

The renovation of the St. Paul VI mother and child home in Rome was an extensive task as the building is from the 19th century. With its central location in central Rome, just a few hundred meters from the Colosseum and the Lateran, it was important that the building retain its character. The interior of the house was completely renovated and renovation work was also carried out to strengthen the internal structures. The playroom set up in cooperation with the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation TRÄNCHEN DRYING is one of the highlights of the mother-child house. An amphitheater has also been created where the children and their carers can enjoy events and shows organized by our volunteers.
