VR Technology Helps Young Patients Overcome Hospital Anxiety

Thanks to modern virtual reality technology, young patients in the children's department of Alrijne Hospital in the Netherlands can now go through medical treatments more relaxed. The Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS financed two VR headsets including licenses and technical accessories to reduce stress and anxiety in young patients.

The innovative equipment helps children immerse themselves in virtual worlds during examinations, emergency treatments, or operations, thereby strengthening their emotional well-being. The VR headsets create a child-friendly atmosphere and make hospital stays more bearable for the little ones.

The project proposal came directly from within the company: A SIXT employee from the Netherlands brought forward the idea. "My niece was treated in this department several times during her childhood. It was a difficult time, and it is great to be able to now support this institution through the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation," explains Anouk Verburg from SIXT Netherlands. The VR headsets create a child-friendly atmosphere and make hospital stays more bearable for the young patients.
