Playroom for children with cancer

At the Centre for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at the University Medical Centre of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation was able to support the association Kinderkrebshilfe e.V. in renovating and equipping the playroom. SIXT employees had launched an appeal for donations to realise the project.

The funding has had a positive impact on the inpatient and outpatient stay of all patients at the Paediatric Oncology Centre. With the redesign and furnishing of a playroom for children with cancer, there is now a space where they can play, do handicrafts, read and distract themselves with their siblings and parents.

The colourful children's furniture and the new shelves, together with the cheerful wall colours, go down very well with the little patients. The new toys, the many games and books offer plenty of opportunities for relaxation.
