New Snoezel room for Lacrima meeting center

In addition to rescue services, first aid courses and home emergency call services, Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. Regionalverband Hamburg also offers Lacrima child and youth grief counseling. Thanks to the support of the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS, the Snoezel room Ankerplatz and the group room Sandschloss for grieving children have been set up in the new Lacrima meeting place Trauerpier Hamburg. Anchorage and the group room Sand castle for grieving children.

The Snoezel room with its calming light, fragrance and sound elements, high-quality floor cushions and the central water column creates a protected atmosphere that invites you to linger, relax and let go. Targeted stimulus reduction and gentle sensory stimulation can release inner tension, an offer that is perceived as an emotional anchor in particularly stressful phases of grief. One child summed it up after the first lesson: “I can breathe here.”

SIXT employees Johannes P., Martin H. and Rabea H. took part in the ceremonial opening of the mourning pier in June 2025. Rabea, who has been a volunteer with the Johanniter for two years, reports: "As a Sixt employee, I deal with a wide variety of people every day: from frequent travelers to families on vacation. Every encounter is different, every personality has their own story. In my voluntary work as a bereavement counselor, I accompany children on their most difficult journey. Both show me every day how valuable genuine compassion and sincere listening are. I am grateful to be part of the Johanniter team, where we can give children not just spaces, but real worlds full of hope and strength."
