In the multifunctional room of the special needs day care center (HPT) at the Hallemann School, children between the ages of six and 13 are given the opportunity to do differentiated work, household chores and therapeutic work. Due to their mental disabilities, these children also receive occupational and physical therapy.
The children are particularly excited about the new swing solution for sensory integration therapy (SI) and the hanging cave in the multifunctional room. The SI swing is an important component in occupational and physical therapy. It is ideal for promoting the vestibular system and is suitable for sensory integration. Various muscle groups and balance are trained. The swinging motion helps children with motor restlessness to relax and regulate themselves. The hanging cave is primarily used for relaxation. The rocking motion and the tight, cocoon-like experience have a calming effect. Autistic children in particular become calmer because they can reduce stimuli.
