The Organización Mater has been supporting children and young people with disabilities at all stages of life since 1964, including through early care and special education in Palma de Mallorca.
Following the successful equipping of classrooms for children with autism spectrum disorder and the construction of a playground in the inner courtyard, two further equipping projects have now been successfully implemented thanks to our support: In the Mater facility for early childhood development (Espacio Atención Temprana), a "Life Classroom" (Aula de Vida) has been created for children with developmental disorders: The space, which is divided into different themed areas, includes everyday scenarios such as a kitchen with a dining area, children's bathrooms, a library and a market stall, and thus serves to teach daily routines. In the Mater Center for Special Education (Centro Mater), a "Room of the Senses" (Sala de Sentidos) was created for children with developmental disorders: Special equipment such as a sensory trolley, XXL piano with dance mat, light and music projector, puzzle floor mats, vibro-acoustic floor, spotlights with color wheel and light games enable individually tailored sensory stimulation for the pupils.
