Thanks to our support, an unused green area at iThemba Labantu's existing sports field has been converted into a multifunctional sports field with table tennis tables. This gives even more children access to sports activities that boost their self-confidence and help them deal with traumatic experiences. In combination with life skills training, values such as team spirit, tolerance and appreciation are promoted, all of which are important building blocks for preventing violence.
The community center iThemba Labantu in the township of Philippi (Cape Town) offers children a protected space to play, learn and grow, far away from poverty, violence and lack of prospects. The association Themba Labantu - Hoffnung für die Menschen e.V. was founded in 2004 and supports local projects that provide concrete help and are supported by committed local people.
We are happy that so many children can let off steam here playing sports and games and, above all, feel safe.
