The Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation has provided both the technical equipment and the necessary furniture for an on-site school for the mother-child center in the children's surgery department. At the Regine Sixt School, children of all ages, backgrounds and religions can learn together.
Hadassah is known for providing first-class medical treatment and specialized patient care to all of Israel's diverse populations. The curriculum is similar to that of a "normal" school and includes work on topics such as the seasons and the celebration of Jewish, Christian and Muslim religious holidays. Children from different backgrounds can learn about each other's customs. In addition to the regular educational courses, the children are offered a variety of activities such as science, nature, music, arts and crafts and cooking. The activities are geared towards specific age groups of children and the language they speak - Hebrew, Arabic, English or Russian.
The school has a large classroom with five computer workstations, a kitchen where cooking activities take place and a private room where children receive individual lessons as part of their regular curriculum. As the school is located in a hospital, the teaching team is involved in medical activities alongside education to help patients prepare for procedures. Just as a child meets with the anesthesiologist before an operation, they spend time with the teachers who use a special book with photos and drawings.
"The Regine Sixt School provides education, entertainment, enrichment, recreation and therapeutic activities in attractively decorated, colorful facilities. We are deeply grateful to you for partnering with us to help Israel's sick children from all walks of life, helping us to dry their little tears and make them smile.", Hadassah Medical Organization Director
