As the sponsor of the parental home in Freiburg, the Association for the Promotion of Children with Cancer received financial support from the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation. The facility was able to finance the purchase of medical equipment, but also provide funding for research projects. Since the parental home opened in 1995, around 375,550 overnight stays have been recorded. For families, this means a great deal of relief during the inpatient treatment of the sick child. The length of stay is often many weeks and months. In the parental home, the families find everything they need for everyday life. To put it in the words of a father: "I don't even want to imagine how we could have managed without the parental home - humanely, logistically, financially."
