Medical care in Kenya

Health care is still very rudimentary in many areas of Kenya. There is often a lack of medication and the nearest hospital is several hundred kilometres away. In the Nariokotome region in the north of the country, difficult weather conditions with long dry spells followed by heavy rainfall make it difficult for people to make a living from agriculture. Since the region near the Ethiopian border is also very remote, it often becomes an insurmountable obstacle for people to reach the nearest medical facility in case of illness.

Therefore, the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation, together with the missionary community of St. Paul the Apostle in Kenya, has supported the construction of a new building wing of the Primary Health Clinic in Nariokotome as well as the construction of a diagnostic building for laboratory, ultrasound and radiological check-ups.
