Support for day care centre in Uganda

Children with physical or mental disabilities have a very difficult time in Uganda. And although there are now efforts to promote inclusion, there is still a lack of appropriate support and resources for children with special needs and their families, especially their mothers.

That's why some mothers from Uganda's capital Kampala got together, rented a house and set up their own day care centre for children with physical or mental disabilities in it.

Together with Malteser International, the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation supported this project and financed urgently needed medical equipment and medication. In addition, physiotherapy for the children as well as special transport for the little ones to school or doctors could be organised and financed. Originally, the facility was intended for 15 children, but in the meantime more than 30 children are cared for here.
