New equipment for integrative playground in Munich
Lebenshilfe München opened its first curative education day centre back in 1968. Today, it runs a total of five of them in Munich and the Munich county. Over 150 children with physical or mental disabilities are cared for here. The ages range from toddlers from 3 years old to teenagers who come to the facilities after school. During the school holidays, the staff organises a varied holiday programme. The focus is on curative education work in small groups, but individual and complementary therapy is also offered.
We were happy to provide assistance to this valuable institution in 2018 and took over the disabled-friendly garden equipment for one of the day care centres. In 2020, we once again supported Lebenshilfe München with the purchase of playground equipment for the garden of the school and curative education day centre in the north of Munich. A small playhouse, swings and seesaws were now joined by two trampolines embedded in the ground, which can also be used by wheelchair-bound children. A new slide was also built.
The playground equipment encourages the children to play by themselves and to experience autonomy and self-determination, which is particularly important for them due to their impairments. Playing together also promotes their ability to move and communicate, which has a positive influence on their further development.
