Educational sponsorships

More than 50,000 young people leave school every year without a diploma. Most of them come from low-income families who cannot afford the urgently needed tutoring. Former Federal President Horst Köhler comments: "Educational opportunities are opportunities in life. They must not depend on their origin." Germany is the worst performer in Europe and its expenditure on education is still below the OECD average (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development).

This is where the "Chancenstiftung - Bildungspaten für Deutschland" comes in and awards tutoring scholarships for professional tutoring for children and young people from low-income families. Ten children from low-income families in Schwerin, Magdeburg, Potsdam, Erfurt and Dresden receive two double hours of intensive and professional tutoring per week in their problem subjects.
