Children's Urological Surgery Team Austria for Eritrea

Doing good is an important concern for the members of the board of the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation DRYING LITTLE TEARS and their environment. This is also the case for Konstantin and Noni Sixt. Instead of presents for their birthdays, they therefore asked their relatives and friends in 2018 to rather make a donation to the Regine Sixt Children's Aid Foundation in their name.

These donations were used to support the "Paediatric Urology Team Austria for Eritrea", which travels to Eritrea twice a year. In April 2019, a team of 11 doctors flew to Eritrea with a total of 420 kg of luggage. For one week, the pediatric urology medical team was on site and was able to help numerous children free of charge and on a voluntary basis thanks to the donation from DRYING LITTLE TEARS.

Through the regular trips, the organization was able to build a good network. Helpers on site provide accommodation and drive the doctors to the IOCCA clinic where they can examine and treat the children. Eritrea is one of the poorest countries in the world and many parents accept long journeys and long waiting times with their children, as it is the only possibility for treatment by specialists. Hampered by power outages, some operations had to be postponed to a later date, but nevertheless 71 children could be helped surgically in five days.

In addition to the operations, a total of 205 children were also treated as outpatients. We would like to thank the medical team for their tireless commitment and are pleased that we were able to support this successful mission.
