SIXT colleagues from the OPS & SCC team swapped their usual working day for a DRYING LITTLE TEARS Day and got together in the kitchen: at the Ronald McDonald House in Berlin-Wedding, they prepared a dinner for families whose seriously ill children are being treated at the nearby German Heart Centre of the Charité or at Charité Campus Virchow-Klinikum. Since 1998, the house has provided a temporary home for more than 500 families every year – a place of calm and warmth in the middle of one of the most difficult times a family can face.
What this evening offered was not a big programme, but something far more valuable: togetherness. Cooking together, laughing together, taking a moment to breathe. For families who fight daily with worry and exhaustion, an evening like this can mean more than one might expect – a brief respite, a warm meal, the feeling of not being alone.
"It's often the small moments that make the biggest difference: cooking together, laughing and forgetting the heavy everyday for just a little while. The gleaming eyes of the families at the Ronald McDonald House show how much warmth, hope and renewed strength lies in these shared hours," says Sascha Schmidt, Senior Branch Manager V&T at SIXT. An evening that proves: sometimes it doesn't take much – just people who show up.
